Who is responsible

This page covers this website and Brevoir itself. Brevoir is made for people who invest, and it is not meant for anyone under eighteen.

What is collected, and why

Your account

Your name, your email address and how you sign in: a password, which we store only as a hash, or your Google or Microsoft account, which tells us your name and email address. We also record the workspaces you belong to, the invitations you send, and when you accepted the terms. We use this to run your account, to keep it secure and to write to you about it.

Billing

Payments are handled by Stripe, our payment processor. Stripe collects your card details and billing address, and we never receive your full card number. We keep a record of your plan, your invoices and whether they were paid, to provide the plan and to keep our accounts.

How you use Brevoir

What you ask for and when: the research you run, the credits it uses, the companies and funds you track and the monitors you set. Like most services, we also keep logs with your IP address, your browser and the time of each request. We use this to provide the product, to apply plan limits, to prevent abuse and to find faults.

One thing is counted across workspaces: how many investors are watching a company, a fund or a founder. Any figure shared with other investors is a range, never a list of names, and is available only once at least five investors are watching.

What you put in

Your thesis, lists, notes, deals, decisions, the documents you upload and your conversations with Brevoir. We process this to do the work you ask for. It is private to your workspace. Security explains how your workspace content is handled.

Email

We send email about your account, such as verification, password resets, invitations and receipts, and the briefings and alerts you set up. You can change or stop briefings in Settings. If you write to us, we keep the correspondence.

Public information about companies

Brevoir gathers information about companies and funds from public sources. The Research capabilities guide explains the scope and limitations of the work.

Public information about people

Companies are run by people, so the research includes people in their professional role: a name, a role, a company and public links. The section on people who appear in research says what is held and how to have it corrected or removed.

The legal grounds

Where European or UK data protection law applies, we rely on three grounds. The first is our contract with you: your account, your content and billing. The second is our legitimate interest in running, securing and improving Brevoir, and in researching companies and the professional roles of the people who run them. The third is the law itself, for records such as invoices.

Who processes it

Other companies help us run Brevoir. They process personal data for us, under contract, and only to provide their service.

• A payment processor: Stripe.
• An email provider: Resend, which delivers the email we send.
• Model and search providers process the content needed to complete research requests. Their terms govern processing and retention.
• Your own model provider, if a workspace connects one with its own key. Work that runs on that key goes to the provider you chose, under your agreement with them.
• Google or Microsoft, if you choose to sign in with one of them.
• Hosting: the providers that run our servers, our database and our file storage. This website is hosted by Vercel.
• Google, for Google Analytics on this website, as described under cookies and analytics.

We do not sell your account data or your content, and we do not share them for advertising. We may disclose data when the law requires it. If the company is sold or merged, the data moves to the new owner under the terms of this page.

We and these companies are based mainly in the United States, so your data is processed there. For the current list of companies that process data for us, write to hello@brevoir.com.

How long it is kept

For questions or requests about a particular research record, write to hello@brevoir.com.

When you delete your workspace, the private data in it is deleted. Research on public facts about companies is not yours alone, and it stays.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• tell you what personal data we hold about you, and give you a copy;
• correct it;
• delete it;
• stop using it, or use it less.

You can export your data and delete your workspace yourself in Settings. For anything else, write to hello@brevoir.com from the email address on your account. We reply within thirty days, and you will not be treated differently for asking.

These rights apply wherever you live. Some laws, such as those of the European Union, the United Kingdom and California, add their own rules, and we follow them where they apply. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your data protection authority.

People who appear in research

Brevoir researches companies, and companies are run by people. If you are a founder, an executive or an investor, Brevoir may hold public information about you in that role: your name, your role, your company and public links, such as a biography on a company site or a public profile.

This is publicly available professional information. When a customer requests background research on a person, the resulting research stays in that customer’s workspace.

Brevoir does not collect personal email addresses, phone numbers or home addresses, and it does not draw conclusions about a person’s health, beliefs or other sensitive matters. Our terms forbid using it to decide about anyone’s employment, credit, insurance or housing.

Investors may see roughly how many of them are watching a founder, as a band, once at least five are.

To see what Brevoir holds about you, to have it corrected or to have it removed, write to hello@brevoir.com with your name and the company you are connected to. You do not need an account. We reply within thirty days.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses Google Analytics to count visits and to see which pages are read. Google’s script loads with the page and sets cookies in your browser, and Google processes what it collects under its own terms. You can block those cookies in your browser, and the site works without them.

The fonts and images on this website are served from the website itself. When you sign in to Brevoir, it sets a cookie that keeps you signed in, which it needs in order to work.

Security

Security describes workspace privacy, access controls and sign-in. To report a security problem, write to support@brevoir.com.

Changes to this page

When we change this page, we change the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data we already hold about you, we will email you before it takes effect.
